Claims

Nov. 18th, 2020 06:50 pm
Please leave a comment here to claim a character, and then be sure to join the comms! ([community profile] monstercollege | [community profile] monstercollegeooc | [community profile] monstercollegelogs)

Characters will be automatically sorted into dorm rooms unless players have specific rooms they'd like to put their characters in!

Also, please include your plurk handle so I can make sure I know who you are! Your comment will be deleted once your character is added.

Once your character is accepted into the comms, you are clear to play! Make an OOC post in the OOC comm, or just start posting stuff in the network comm or make a log!

(A dorm log will be posted at some point in the future, and a CR log will be posted before that so people can establish handwaved CR!)

Dorms - West of the class building are the Monster College dorms. They are co-ed, and each dorm may have up to three students. There is a list up in the dorm lobby that lists rooms and who lives where.

Class Building - The middle building of the school. All classes are held here, as well as some study group rooms. Make sure you know which room your classes are in!

Library - East of the class building. Three stories tall, thousands of books, and plenty of rooms with computers for doing those late-night homework stints if you aren't lucky or rich enough to own a laptop.

Gymnasium - Behind the library. Why the architects decided on putting the loudest building beside the quietest one is anyone's guess. All sports are held here, both outside and inside, and the storage rooms are full of equipment of all kinds.

Garden - A large place behind the class building. Contains picnic tables, a place for a campfire, and a hedge maze. Please don't set it on fire.

More coming soon! Please leave a comment here if you wish to add a location!
1. Every student, teacher, and staff member at Monster College gets one (1) mobile device for connecting to the network. Any homework done outside of class needs to be done in the library, on their computers.

2. Every student must be on time to classes.

3. Every student, teacher and staff member must be in an appropriate form while on campus, aside from the dorms. Violators will be forcibly removed.

4. Roughhousing is not only allowed, but encouraged. Any arguments that break out in a fight must be resolved by those involved, including any that involve themselves after the start of a fight.

5. While disrespect towards a staff member or a teacher may be handled in any way by them, it is generally unwise to be disrespectful towards the Principal. Don't be disrespecful towards the Principal. It would very likely end very badly for you. You have been warned.

6. These rules may be added to at any time, or modified without any prior notification. Please keep all rules in mind.

FAQ

Hey, I want to join this game!

Great! However, please be aware that only players who are friends with the head mod can join this game initially. Once it's been open for a little bit, existing players will be allowed to invite their friends in, after clearing them with the head mod first. There are no limits on how many players one person can invite to the game.

So this is an AU game, right?

Yep! This means canon characters must be AUed into the setting. Your Mushroom Kingdom and Earth do not exist in this universe!

How much can I AU my characters?

As much or as little as you'd like, so long as they fit the setting! They must be some sort of monster. Any kind of monster is okay! Fantasy monsters (werewolves, vampires, witches, shapeshifters, genies, ghosts, etc.), monsters based on real-world animals, even things like Pokemon, Digimon, and Personas! Feel free to be as creative as you'd like.

Your character can also be a full feral monster in appearance and ability, but even then they will be forced to use a more humanoid form while in the college. Outside of campus, though? Go nuts.

So wait, any kind of monster? What about canon monsters, like Godzilla? Mothra? They don't have a ton of personality in their canon.

Those are totally allowed! In this case it would sort of be like a half-OC (or a minor character in non-AU games), taking the monster from their canon and then giving them personality that befits their canon self as much as possible. Don't fret too much about limiting yourself, though! You're not going to be looked down upon for winging it or delving a bit into the wild side when creating backstories and personalities for these characters.

If I play Godzilla or a type of kaiju, can their true form be bigger?

Yes! Not much bigger, though. Just enough to make it clear they're a force to be reckoned with in size. When they're in humanoid form, they can be a fairly tall character, or even the average height.

What about full OCs and canon OCs?

Both are totally and completely allowed, of course.

Who can I app my characters in as?

Students, teachers and staff, mostly. They must have some role within the college itself.

What about ages?

As this is a college, generally ages will range from 18-25. Sometimes you'll get the super-genius that managed to make their way into the college at 16 or something.

Does my character get a sweet mobile device?

You betcha. Everyone gets a smartphone to access the network and the campus' website. To actually do homework you'll probably have to visit the library if you don't have a laptop or something.

Can my monster be a villain?

Oh hell yes, they can. Monsters can be good or bad, and there's plenty of gangs and budding villain type groups. Wanna cause trouble? Do it. If someone stages a hostile takeover of the school, characters can fight back... or even join up with the bad guys! Wanna instigate a war? Well... best leave that one for a player plot.

How many characters can I play?

There's no hard limit, and as there's no AC, there's no real reason to even have a cap of any kind. Just don't character squat, ok? If you feel you're not going to play a character, consider removing them so someone else can give them a shot.

I want to app a character in that someone else dropped. How will that work?

Either you'll work it out with the previous player and keep playing the original version with their permission, or you'll be able to roll up a similar AU with a different name so they aren't the exact same. They can be totally confused for one another, if that helps!

How does claiming a character work?

Simply fill out the form on the claims page and submit a comment! After that, join the comms! Once you're in, you can play, even if your character hasn't been added to the taken list yet.

So this thread is heading into NSFW territory...

If any threads are heading that way, please take it to a journal and lock it!

I have a question that hasn't been answered yet!

Submit a comment on this page and once it gets answered, if it's a general question, it will get added to this page!

Rules

OOC Rules of Monster College

1. Don't be a dick. Be kind to your fellow RPers. Even if you don't get along, try and be civil to each other.

2. Seriously, don't be a dick. If we see any shenanigans, there will be consequences.

3. Keep the IC/OOC divide. This should be self-explanatory.

4. This game has no apps and no AC. Players can have as many or as few characters in the game as they wish. Playercest is also allowed, but it is requested that this be kept to a minimum.

5. Don't metagame, godmod, or infomod. If you aren't sure whether your character knows something about someone else's character, ask them first!

6. Any issues with other players should be taken up with a mod, preferably in private.
